All Posts, Skincare Solutions December 9

When you experience facial redness, it may not be just rosy cheeks. Rosacea involves flushing and feelings of heat, but not because we’re embarrassed or hot. For those of us with rosacea, the redness lingers and may come along with breakouts and thickening skin. Yet, as with all skin care conditions, everyone experiences rosacea differently, so an effective treatment plan may be hard to come by. Luckily, there are a wealth of rosacea home remedies out there that can take the edge off. Here are 7 of our favorites. Flushing, begone!

1.) Green Tea

In addition to its great taste and laundry list of health benefits, green tea is also one of the most popular and useful rosacea home remedies. It fights inflammation and redness all while decreasing your skin’s sensitivity to ultraviolet light. This means green tea reduces the risk of breakouts forming on affected areas. Yes, please!

2.) Oatmeal

If you’re struggling with itching as a result of your rosacea, you need a little oatmeal in your life. Oatmeal reduces inflammation, irritation, and itchiness. We recommend either adding it to a lukewarm bath or creating a face mask with it to put you on the fast track to healing.

3.) Honey

Honey is great for rosacea because of its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. At the same time, it also makes a wonderful moisturizer that won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. We suggest using either raw or organic honey for the purest form of treatment.

4.) Aloe Vera

If there were awards for healing properties, aloe vera would be a top contender. Its gel rejuvenates the skin while efficiently reducing the appearance of redness. Rubbing the gel directly on the skin does wonders! Your rosacea may be healed in as little as two months if you apply aloe vera twice a day.

5.) Turmeric

This is one of those rosacea home remedies that you might already have in your kitchen. Turmeric is a spice with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Incorporating turmeric into your skin care routine, either in the form of a face mask or a drinkable solution with milk, can improve redness and inflammation.

6.) Sunscreen

Although you should be wearing sunscreen no matter what, it’s especially important to wear sun protection if you suffer from rosacea. UV light aggravates symptoms of rosacea and increases inflammation, so protect yourself! Choose an oil-free sunscreen that contains at least SPF 30.

7.) Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is the holy grail of natural beauty products. It fights bacteria and is free of chemicals that can irritate your skin even further. Bonus points: it won’t make your skin oily. We love using it as an affordable, effective moisturizer.
